I hope you lose your job and get cancer, then we'll see what you think of your elitist "let them eat cake" ideas.

You're a heartless beast and you deserve every hardship you ever face. Funny thing is, I bet you'd call yourself Christian. Did Jesus turn away the sick because they couldn't pay?

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that such top-shelf ignorance is involved with a university.
From your CNN article:

1) "The underlying presumption behind this legislation is that the government health insurance should be expanded to cover the uninsured.

This presumption is wrong."

Your evaluation of this presumption is a moral opinion. Don't state it as fact.

2) Your entire section on giving cash transfers to the poor v. government subsidies is nonsense.

"Just because people want government to help the poor doesn't require it to pay for specific kinds of goods."

...in your opinion, again.
...and your opinion is refuting a phantom statement that was never cited.
...and maybe the will of the people does require the government to do certain things. That would be a democracy.

3) "The other possible objection to the cash transfer approach holds that, if left unregulated, private health insurers would deny coverage based on pre-existing conditions. Thus, some people might get no health insurance at all.

This outcome is unlikely, however, assuming health insurance is unregulated."

Uh-huh.
It's clear that you've never been anything but wealthy and in good health.

You have absolutely no experience to draw off of in order to make conclusions on this topic as a whole. Your statistical analysis is myopic, to be generous, and is quite stunning in its inability to acknowledge the fact that the economic factor is only one of many... thus creating an egregiously shortsighted evaluation.

The final part of that quote is absolutely erroneous. In the current unregulated market, your presumptious borders on comical.

4) "That is why Obamacare, and existing subsidies for health insurance, are treatments that are worse than the disease."

You did have the desperate sense to wind up your article like a good high school essay, though. Tip of the hat for that.

Nice piece for a robot to write, though. I wasn't aware that BASIC programming had come this far!

What a disaster. Just proves the point that no bailouts should ever occur. Ever.

You clearly think quite highly of yourself, Mr. Miron. You must wrap yourself in that Harvard moniker like a blanket - no doubt it would be a pretty empty life without it.

You appear to be entirely without empathy - like a sociopath - ruthless and arrogant. So obviously isolated - lonely it makes me think - you've never been able to connect with other people, have you? Did you worry about it when you were a kid - having no friends? Turning people into numbers was a smart way to compensate.

Poverty must be an inconvenience in economics. If we let the poor people die, think how much better the numbers will look. Maybe we can do an algorithm on the death rate - develop some models, factor in the implications of euthanasia.

We could send your post-docs to a few wakes, see if the family is chowing down on Quarter Pounders or knocking back Old Milwaukees. I mean, come on, that's what poor people die from, right? Cancer, Alzheimers, ALS, Parkinsons - they're middle class and up all the way.

For such a smart guy, you've got a huge blindspot. Any significance in your theories was totally overshadowed by the glaring lack of humanity. I can't fathom who would take you seriously outside of some obscure journal. What person would willingly seek direction from the small mind of such a pitifully inept human being?

Wait - I know, maybe the poor people! I mean, after all, they're stupid enough to think they deserve care when they're sick.

Hang on to that tenure, Mr. Miron - it's surely all you've got.

Hey Mr. Anonymous... why are you attacking the individual for expressing his thoughts/beliefs??? and why are you anonymous??? yella?? :)

People like "Anonymous" just don't get it. I feel bad for people like "Anonymous" that don't take the time educate themselves on different ideologies. It's part of the reason why Bryan Caplan wrote this great book:

"The Myth of the Rational Voter: Why Democracies Choose Bad Policies"

People underestimate the market mechanism. Liberals, in particular, seem to spew a lot of hatred towads Libertarians and those that disagree with their vision of government.

They share this view that a top down approach thru government intervention can solve all of our problems.

The core of Libertarianism is Liberty. Freedom of the individual. Free markets.

Mike,

The problem with Libertarianism is the problem with all ideologies: an inability to see past the limitations of the ideology when circumstances and/or evidence dictates. The ideologue approaches every problem with his solution already in mind: in the libertarian's case, the free market will always work best, no matter what. Ideology erodes critical thought, forcing the ideologue into logical contortions to justify his a priori conclusions.

The history of political thought is littered with the corpses of simple solutions to complex problems that sounded good at the time. Communism failed not just because it doesn't work in groups of more than a dozen or so, but also because its rigidity did not allow for changed circumstances to dictate a new approach. To assume that one guiding principle will solve all problems is a fool's errand, as the Soviets learned.

When the only tool you have is a (libertarian) hammer, every problem looks like a (free markets! individualism!) nail.

For more on ideological blinders, see Plato's "Allegory of the Cave."
